Magnesium — form and timing matter
Magnesium supports muscle, nerve, glucose, and blood pressure regulation. Supplement form can change tolerability and absorption, so “magnesium” is not always one interchangeable thing.
Moderate to strong for deficiency correction; varies by goal and supplement form.
People compare milligrams on the front label without checking elemental magnesium or the specific form, such as citrate, glycinate, oxide, or threonate.
Track the exact product and form when possible, then note timing and stomach tolerance so your routine is based on what you actually take.
Magnesium can cause diarrhea and may be risky at supplemental doses for people with kidney disease. It can also interfere with some medications if taken too close together.
